So a work colleague, Mikey, is looking up local screenings of "Avatar"... and then I hear Mikey yell, "Avatar's over two and a half hours long! Isn't there a 'best of' version? Is the non-3d Avatar shorter?"
Me : "Here's a thought. How about you walk in half way, with your 3d glasses on, and just ask whoever you sit next to : What did I miss? Make it quick."
Mikey : "Yeah, like I'm going to do that."
Me : "How about this. Do you like Indiana Jones? Why don't you go see 'Sherlock Holmes' instead? It's a lot shorter, and it's kind of like an Indiana Jones movie dressed up as an English detective..."
Mikey : "But I want to see Avatar."
Me : "Ok then, how about you just wait for the DVD, and then you can watch it over two nights?"
